Icy James River - Richmond Photography

Today a friend was going to see how thick the ice on the James River had formed and jokingly asked if I was coming along. I happened to be wearing my waterproof hiking boots, long johns, heavy coat and favorite blanket scarf so I gamely said I'd join him. Boy am I glad I did!

Once we started walking it didn't seem THAT cold (with my hat pulled down to my sunglasses, and the blanket scarf covering my nose and mouth.)

I took my mittens off just long enough to snap these shots and my fingers quickly went numb and then started hurting. I could have stayed out for hours admiring the beautiful day, but I'd have been too tempted to take more pictures, and my poor fingers just couldn't take it. Next time, I'll bring my gloves that I can actually shoot in. ;)

Here are a few of my favorite shots -- all taken with my trusty iPhone!
