The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts allows non-commercial photography indoors. The museum has rules against bringing large bags and backpacks into the museum, so plan ahead as far as any photography gear you may be bringing along. There is also no flash photography allowed inside (which would damage the artwork!)

The back stairwell even has a large window that lets in natural light! And the grounds outside around VMFA and the Pauley Center are beautiful if you end up with a break in the weather!

You need to plan ahead to photograph your session at Virginia House. This historic venue in Richmond’s Windsor Farms is available to use for photography after you’ve reserved the venue and paid the hourly rate (with a 2-hour minimum rental.) Branch Museum of Architecture and Design has some stunning indoor options on the first floor of their venue including a room that features a floor to ceiling beautiful leaded glass window!
