The day I had planned to meet up with Ashleigh and Austin for their Mechanicsville Virginia engagement photos, the weather forecast turned bad, and we decided to reschedule. It was a good thing, because that overcast, gloomy day turned out to be a rainy, wet one, too! Fortunately, we were able to reschedule for one day later, and what a difference a day makes! It was one of those rare, perfect fall days we sometimes are blessed with here in Virginia!

I loved meeting Ashleigh and Austin and getting to wander around the historical Rural Plains park on a sunny fall day!

How They Met

Ashleigh and Austin had joined a leadership group on campus at Randolph-Macon College that holds a weekend camp before the school year starts. Austin is from Connecticut and his flight was delayed so he arrived a day late . . . which landed him in Ashleigh’s group! The two began chatting immediately, and they were dating shortly afterward.

How He Asked

Nearly three years later, Austin proposed in the chapel of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Ashland, VA. This was a special place to the couple. They had spent a lot of time there praying and reading their Bibles together while growing closer in faith and love. Ashleigh had recently joined the church (through baptism/confirmation/first communion) on Easter just about a week before. So Austin’s timing was perfect!
