9+ Wedding Getaway Car Ideas

There are a lot of good reasons not to forget the final detail of your wedding getaway car! After your guests have said goodbye by blowing bubbles, waving sparklers or tossing confetti, they’ll watch you drive away. And that will be their last impression of your big day! So whether you’re looking for a little Wow Factor at the end of the night, or just wanting to make a speedy getaway, don’t forget to make those arrangements for how you’ll leave your wedding reception.

One of my favorite reasons for chosing a unique wedding getaway car is that it will make for a great photo opportunity.

Check out a few of my favorite wedding getaway cars. I tossed in a couple of fun beverage cars for good measure.

Rolls Royce or Packard

Having a vintage Packard like this one, or a Rolls Royce at your wedding isn’t just a luxurious way to leave your wedding, it’s a focal point for some of your portraits! If you want to give your images a timeless, classic feel, this could be a good option for you! Renting a vintage car even for an hour or so just to take you from the church to your reception could be a fun idea.

Scooter

Nothing adds a touch of whimsy and European charm like a scooter. Adding a scooter definitely will make any wedding look like a destination wedding in France (whether you jumped the pond or not!) The extra bonus—how cute does your bouquet look tucked in the basket on the back.

Limousine

The limousine is a classic and elegant way to make your getaway! This is a great option if neither of you wants to drive. And I always love the photo opp of the couple smiling out the window at the camera.

Horse

At some Indian weddings, the groom arrives on a horse. During the Baraat, the groom rides to the venue on horseback, leading a parade of guests who dance and celebrate. (I just loved the juxtaposition of the horse with the city buildings in the background.)

If you’re having a barn wedding, maybe leaving your wedding on horseback is an option for your wedding getaway. (Or at the very least, a great option for some wedding portraits!)

Golf Cart

Vineyard and country club venues often make use of golf carts to shuttle the couple and wedding party across their property! Sometimes it’s just a matter of asking if you can use one of their carts.

Motorcycle with Sidecar

This wedding party is giving us all the vintage feels, especially with their cool motorcycle with sidecar.

My brother and sister-in-law surprised all the guests waiting for their exit. As the guests all lined the walkway to where her decorated car was parked, he and his new bride drove past everyone on his motorcycle! I think they even had ‘Just Married’ written on their helmets.

Tesla

Any vintage automobile, sports car with a fun pop of color, or convertible may be a good option for a getaway car. But the Tesla’s uniquely-opening door made it a stand-out at this exit. So did the bridesmaids’ ‘protest’ as they pretended to block the couple from leaving!

Trolley And Other Options

There are several companies in Richmond offering Trolley rentals. This is a great option if you need to transport your whole wedding party from the church to the portrait locations and reception. Make sure you leave time to grab photos of everyone on the trolley!

If you’ve spent any time downtown, you’ve probably seen the segway tours. How fun would it be to surprise your guests by exiting on segways!?

Or perhaps a couple of vintage bikes are more your style. Or maybe even a bicycle built for two?

Other Fun Vehicles to Have at Your Wedding

Incredible Edibles has a gelato bicycle. The Stable Bar converted an old horse trailer into a bar and there are any number of food trucks that could be a good option to add a little something special for your guests.
