Mechanicsville Senior Portraits

For Kellie's Class of 2018 Hanover High School senior portraits, we headed to Rural Plains in Mechanicsville.

Kellie's got a great natural smile, was tons of fun, and I loved that she was up for exploring the 1.25-mile roundtrip walking trail at Rural Plains to take her senior portraits.

We headed out in the early evening to take advantage of summer light at sunset, and we were not disappointed!

I just loved the textured brick and how her pink dress played off the different colors of old brick on the historic Shelton House.

We walked back into the woods to venture to this bridge that spans the swampy area where Civil War troops once marched.

We even snapped a few pictures right off the parking lot on Studley Road! It's so cool that this area is open for people to enjoy (and it's right down the road from Historic Pole Green Church!)

The path back through the woods was shady and we enjoyed a little relief from the summer heat!

I love how Kellie's portraits turned out! She'll be busy this fall serving the Class of 2018 well with her many school activities including participating on the Hanover High School Swim Team. (Go Hawks!)

Rural Plains in Mechanicsville, VA is known for its Civil War history and legend has it that Patrick Henry married in the parlor of the Shelton House that still stands on the property. Owned by the Shelton family for generations, the land is now preserved by the Richmond National Battlefield Park for its rich history.
