Montpelier Center for the Arts Wedding

Montpelier Center for the Arts Wedding in Hanover, VA

A Montpelier Center for the Arts wedding was the perfect solution for this sweet couple who knew they wanted to invite a lot of friends and family to celebrate their wedding with them! This classic ballroom with floor to ceiling windows is architecturally gorgeous with the added bonus of having art from local artists lining the hallways and the buffet area.

Marissa and Josh met while they were attending Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Marissa was an education major and Josh was studying to be a geologist when their roommates introduced them on Halloween.

Years later, the two were taking a stroll through Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, and Marissa had no idea what was about to happen. They had just left the butterfly room as they walked out onto a pier over the water when Josh got down on one knee. Their friends hid nearby to take photos as he asked her to become his bride!

On their spring wedding day the weather forecast kept threatening storms, so the couple decided last minute to move their ceremony indoors. But they still had plenty of sunshine to take outdoor photos of the wedding party, family formals and their bride and groom portraits!

I loved that their pastor prayed with the groom and groomsmen and with the bride and bridesmaids before the ceremony. Another special moment was when Josh became overcome with emotions while saying his vows, and a hand reached out and squeezed his shoulder reassuringly. His groomsman brother had reached over reassuringly.

The couple had so many sweet moments that they shared during the day, and even their details held sentimental value.

Marissa’s something old, borrowed and blue was a vintage handkerchief that belonged to her grandmother. Their ring bearer pillow was once carried by Josh himself when he was a young boy!
