Richmond Marriott Wedding

I had the pleasure of second shooting this Downtown Marriott Hotel wedding in Richmond, VA for StudioNine Photography, a company that specializes in capturing Indian weddings! It took me back to a few years ago when I was at a wedding in Bangalore, India, and it was fun reliving those memories!

We started off our day at the Richmond Marriott before sunrise, and after the photography and videography team met, I was off to photograph the groom getting ready with his dad. Normally, I start my wedding days with the brides, so it was a nice change to get to photograph the groom and his details!

Then we headed to Capitol Square Park to photograph the couple’s epic First Look on the stairs at the Virginia State Capitol building. I loved this location for their first look because the bright reds and greens they are wearing really pop off the clean white background without distraction.

Next, the groom made his entrance to the ceremony on horseback as his Baraat processional circled the city block. Friends and family lead the way, dancing along the route in matching sunglasses as the music played. The groom gave several small boys a short ride so they could pose for photos for family members during the Baraat. I loved seeing the juxtaposition of the horse with the city buildings and parking garages in the background, and the energy in the crowd was contagious!

We headed inside for the marriage ceremony, which was beautiful. Afterward, the guests enjoyed lunch together before everyone left to rest and change for the evening’s reception festivities!

During that time, the ballrooms were totally reimagined in a different look. Both the groomsmen and bridesmaids had synchronized dances that they performed, and the couple’s dance had everyone cheering.
