Mythili & Dalton's Multicultural Celebration at Historic Tuckahoe
Mythili and Dalton’s Historic Tuckahoe Wedding in Richmond, VA was a beautiful multicultural celebration for these two, who met when they were kids and became high school sweethearts.
This wedding day was a full-circle moment for me. I’ve known the groom’s mom since kindergarten, and I actually attended her Omni Homestead Resort wedding when she married her college sweetheart!
Nestled along the James River, Historic Tuckahoe—the boyhood home of Thomas Jefferson—is a stunning 18th-century estate surrounded by manicured gardens, tree-lined paths, and colonial architecture. It provided a timeless and romantic setting for the end to this memorable wedding week.
The couple's wedding week included an Indian Mehndi ceremony, a Filipino Despedido de Soltero (a traditional send-off party for the groom), and a warm American welcome party for friends and family at the groom’s family home.
Before the ceremony, Dalton participated in a Kashi Yatra where the groom pretends to leave the wedding for a spiritual journey, and bride’s family ‘convince’ him to return and marry the bride. It ended with the bride’s brother showering him with rose petals from a festively decorated umbrella.
Their wedding day featured a touching ceremony that honored both Indian and American traditions. Mythili wore a stunning red and gold sari, while Dalton donned traditional Indian attire. The wedding was officiated partly in Hindu tradition and partly by a pastor who had known Dalton since he was a child—a moving combination of culture and personal history.
Later, the couple changed into a classic white wedding gown and black suit for the reception. One of the most heartwarming touches was their cake topper: two figurines representing their beloved dogs, a nod to their shared life together.
The couple’s day was a beautiful reflection of their families, cultures, and the journey that brought them together.
Mythili & Dalton, thank you so much for allowing me to document your wedding festivities. You two are so obviously loved by your family and friends, and I had a blast!
