Rew & Grey’s Romantic Travel-Themed Wedding at Main Street Station

Rew and Grey’s summer Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Wedding Ceremony with Main Street Station Reception highlighted the couple’s wanderlust at two of Richmond’s most iconic historic venues.

We started off the day with Rew’s mother and godmother lovingly helping Grey into her dress. The couple had opted not to have a formal wedding party and so the usual celebratory clamor in the bridal suite was replaced with quieter conversations and laugher between the three women.

The ceremony was held at Richmond’s stunning Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, where stained glass and soaring ceilings never cease to impress a sense of wonder when I enter the space. Grey’s foster father walked her down the aisle, and both of them were teary-eyed as they walked toward Rew.

Since the couple really wanted some portraits with a more verdant setting, we headed to nearby Monroe Park for a few portraits before heading to Main Street Station for more portraits before their guests arrived for cocktail hour.

The couple’s love of travel was infused into their reception at the historic venue. Their save-the-date declared, “Our best journey is yet to come!”—a sentiment that carried through every thoughtful detail. Guests found their seats via a custom map-themed seating chart, with tables named after places the couple had explored together. Rew’s passion for maps added a personal and meaningful touch to the décor.

Their love story is just as adventurous as their theme. Introduced by a mutual friend, it took six months—and an impending cross-country move—for Grey to finally agree to a first date. Just 11 days later, Rew moved from D.C. to Seattle, and not long after, Grey followed. That leap of faith led them to this unforgettable day, filled with joy, friends, and lots of Latin dancing.
