Classic Cathedral of Sacred Heart Wedding with Country Club of Virginia Wedding Reception
Cathedral of Sacred Heart Ceremony with Country Club of Virginia Reception | Emily + Richard
Richmond Cathedral of Sacred Heart Wedding
A timeless day for Emily and Richard's Classic Cathedral of Sacred Heart Wedding with Country Club of Virginia Wedding Reception was exactly what Emily had always wanted!
Richard and Emily met while dancing in the Richmond Ballet about ten years ago. They were cast in the same production, and he chose her as his partner. They danced together, and the rest was history!
On the evening Richard proposed, they explored Williamsburg and relived their first date. As they came across a wishing well, Emily turned around to get the coins from him, and he was down on one knee!
The couple both began their day getting ready at the Jefferson Hotel. This historic hotel is one of my favorite Richmond wedding venues for any portion of the day! The rooms are spacious, and the lighting is always perfect. As a nod to their history at the Richmond Ballet and love of dance, Emily shared her point shoes for me to style with their invitation suite.
Emily got her wedding inspiration from three people, Grace Kelly, Jackie O, and Princess Kate. She wanted her day to be classic and elegant, and their ceremony and reception venues were precisely that!
The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is such an incredible location for a wedding. Emily's cathedral-length veil looked gorgeous as she and her father walked down the aisle, and the light streaming through the stained glass windows streamed in on Emily as her dad lifted the veil before he took his seat. It was such a lovely ceremony for these two to become married. As they exited the church, their family and friends lined up and tossed flower petals.
Their wedding getaway car was a stunning 1953 vintage Bentley. The bride’s family shared that they’re ‘car people’ and I loved having the Bentley around all day as the most beautiful addition to their portraits.
At their Country Club of Virginia wedding reception, Emily's dad gave a beautiful toast to the couple. He joked that his nickname for Emily was 'stinky toes' - also a nod to her ballet point shoes. ("If you know, you know," her dad added, as the dancers in the room all laughed!)
A fun moment between the two of them and her parents was when they took a Naval sword to pop a bottle of champagne! It was such a fun-filled evening celebrating the newlyweds!
