Mount Ida Farm Wedding Inspiration

There’s a lot of inspiration to be taken and lessons to be learned from this beautiful 1950s vintage styled Mount Ida Farm wedding! Here are a few tips for the bridal suite as you get ready to help get your day off to a stress-free start.

Bride’s Tips for Getting Ready

  1. Don’t save your own hair and makeup for last. You’re the first one who needs to be photographed! Bride, Mother of the Bride and Maid of Honor should go toward the beginning of the hair and makeup lineup because they’re needed for photos soonest. If HMUA run behind for any reason, this can throw off your entire timeline.

  2. Ideally, the room where you are getting ready should be white, or light-colored neutral with a lot of natural light.

  3. Keep the area in front of the window cleared! I’ll probably photograph your details in front of the window, and this is also where you will be getting into your dress. Make sure to ask your bridal party to keep this area free of water bottles, duffle bags, etc.

  4. The bride’s mom and any bridesmaids who are helping you get ready should be dressed and have their hair and makeup completed before you step into your dress.

  5. Do you want to surprise your dad, grandma or bridesmaids with how you look in your dress? Consider a first look!

  6. Would you like a prayer before your wedding? Some bridesmaids like to pray over the bride after she is done getting ready.

  7. Remove any cardboard dress forms and have someone hang your dress on a pretty hanger. Your photographer will find the best location to place it for photos!

  8. Gather your details for your photographer before your wedding day. Have items such as the following all in one bag or designated location in the bridal suite.

  9. Some details to include:

    • Invitation suites (2 if anything is printed front and back)

    • All three rings! Often one ring or the other ends up with the groomsmen, and then we lose time tracking it down. Wait to hand off that ring to the best man until after your photographer has photographed it!

    • Your bouquet! Make sure your florist delivers your bouquet (and boutonnieres) to the bridal suite early so it can be photographed! (Ideally, 30 minutes before your photographer is scheduled to arrive!)

    • Loose flowers from your florist for styling your details.

    • Shoes

    • Earrings and wedding jewelry

    • Something borrowed, blue, old, new

    • Dress and Veil

Being prepared on your wedding day can save precious moments and help keep your timeline on track and your stress levels low!

Make sure you communicate with your photographer if there are special details or moments you’d like to have photographed. Some moments, such as first looks, need to be planned in advance to make sure we allow time for them.
