Black-Tie VMFA Wedding in Winter

Caitlin and Christopher's black-tie VMFA wedding started with the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready at Quirk Hotel in Richmond.

Christopher and Caitlin met in DC four years ago. Caitlin was in town for a concert and had plans to meet her sister Lauren afterward. When the show was over, she went to Rocket Bar, where she found her sister and a friend had been chatting with Christopher's friends. Little did Christopher know that his Tuesday night darts league would lead him to meet his wife.

Years later, Christopher’s proposal came on Christmas Eve, right after Caitlin's father raised a toast in celebration of a festive end to the year.

The night before their wedding, there was a snowstorm approaching Richmond. Thankfully, we didn't get nearly as much snow as was initially forecast, and the couple had a beautiful winter day for their wedding.

The Quirk Hotel in Richmond was the perfect location for Caitlin and her bridesmaids to get ready. They each wore fur coats that had been handed down by family members to accentuate their gowns and keep them warm. The fur coat Caitlin wore belonged to her maternal grandmother. She also wore a sapphire ring and diamond necklace that had belonged to her mother. Caitlin's twin sisters were her bridesmaids, and they each wore gold necklaces that also once belonged to their mother. The sisters explained that they all share the jewelry that used to be their mother's. What a lovely way to honor their mom!

Caitlin was an art history major in college, and she and Christopher spent a lot of time at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts with their friends and on dates. So, naturally, their wedding venue was very special to them. The Marble Hall was a gorgeous space for their ceremony. The museum provides a unique atmosphere with a contemporary ambiance.

The elegance and style of The Marble Hall enhanced the Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin 1950's party vibe wedding style. Black marble and gold flakes embellished their amazing wedding cake. Memorable toasts and lively dancing ended their big day, and they were officially married!

Caitlin & Christopher, what an awesome wedding day you had! I feel like we blinked and it was over, which was a testament to how much fun everyone was having! Caitlin, your bond with your sisters is so special, and I loved seeing how you guys interacted all day. Thanks for letting me be a part of your special day!
