Proposal at The Omni Homestead in Hot Springs VA

It was a cold January day for this surprise proposal at the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia. (And I mean, really cold!)

Manuel contacted me about capturing his proposal to Makenzy at the popular mountain resort. A few weeks leading up to his proposal, we were crossing our fingers for good weather!

It had snowed a good amount a few days before, leaving a thick carpet of snow on the ground. What a perfect ‘winter wonderland’ setting for this beautiful moment to unfold!

Due to the weather, we had to change the original planned location for their big moment because the icy road wasn't safe to walk along. Additionally, with it being so cold, Makenzy was sure to suspect something if Manuel suggested going for a long walk!

Changing the setting to an area that was a quick walk down the shoveled sidewalk made it easy for Manuel to say they were just going to grab a quick photo of the resort in the snow. This luxury resort brings in southern elegance and charm.

We certainly didn't cover its more than 2,000 acres of scenic VA landscape, but what we did visit was gorgeous! Although the couple had never been to the resort before, they’ll now have this memorable event with such sentimental significance to reflect back on for future visits! Manuel is excited for them to return in the future and build on the memories in this special place.

These two often go away together and enjoy going on adventures, so Makenzy didn't suspect anything when Manuel had planned a weekend getaway. He wanted somewhere that they would have beautiful scenery and options for activities to celebrate afterward!

The joy on Makenzy's face when Manuel got down on one knee was precious. After they were officially engaged, they couldn't stop smiling! We got some "we're engaged" photos of them together around The Omni Homestead. Makenzy was stunned at her exquisite engagement ring with its sparkling center diamond and more diamonds spanning around the band.

I was so happy to photograph this special time in Manuel and Makenzy's love story. Congratulations to these two love birds! Enjoy the wedding planning process.
