Morgan and Peyton’s Hampton Roads engagement session in Williamsburg was on a sunny February day in the 50s. We lucked into the best weather sandwiched between two rare Virginia snowstorms! (I love the shot above, by the way. Don’t they look like they're strolling through their estate gardens in the English countryside?)

Morgan’s no stranger to the snow since she grew up in Colorado! And Colorado and Virginia, both of the couple’s home states, are given starring roles in their love story. Peyton and Morgan flew out to Colorado in late October, and while hiking in the mountains there, Peyton proposed.

As for how the Hampton Roads played into their story— the couple met in Williamsburg, so that’s where we met up for their engagement photos. We started off at The Williamsburg Inn, and I loved the outfits they chose for both their formal and winter casual outfits. (Morgan’s long emerald green dress looked so great in the locations where we shot!)

Then we walked through Colonial Williamsburg, and it felt like someone had staged a perfect Hollywood set for an engagement session in a historic location. As we look for the positives during these pandemic-times, I’ll count among them the ability to shoot in normally crowded locations and get pristine shots of my couple in the environment without anyone else in the background of their shots! (I’m choosing to view that as a silver lining, but it’s still a little surreal, honestly!)

Peyton grew up in the Richmond area, and that’s where they’ll have their fall Foundry Golf Club wedding. I’m so looking forward to their big day—I can’t wait!

In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite images from their Hampton Roads engagement session in Colonial Williamsburg!
