Carter & Eric’s Boho chic Sandbridge Beach Wedding was filled with laughter, a beautiful sunset and dancing under the stars!
The two of them met back in 2003 when Carter’s friend invited her to a party. The friend had set Carter up on a date, which didn’t work out. . . but she met Eric there!
The couple has a great sense of style and you could see repeating elements woven throughout the day from the triangular arch on their invitations that matched the arch they stood in front of, and was carried out in the design on the back of Carter’s ‘Wifey’ emblazoned jean jacket.
The florals on the tables were paired with geometric terrariums and carved wooden table numbers.
There were lots of sentimental touches, too. The silk streamers that billowed beneath Carter’s bouquet were made from fabric strips of three wedding dresses — her own, her mom’s, and her sister’s.
One handkerchief was still attached to the note that was given to her mother when Carter was born. It was stitched as the bonnet that baby Carter would wear home from the hospital, and then converted to a handkerchief for her wedding day. Another handkerchief had her sister’s initials and wedding date embroidered on it. Her sister Kate added Carter’s initials and wedding date on the opposite corners.
Her mother also gave Carter an antique wedding band that had belonged to her grandmother.
Carter’s earrings were handmade with Richmond designer, Emily Warden Designs. Not only were they lovely and the perfect choice for a beach wedding, but the designer is nearly always Eric’s choice for special occasion gifts for Carter. Carter gifted her bridesmaids each a pair of opal earrings from the designer, while Eric gave the groomsmen monogrammed sunglasses and koozies.
After her mother helped her into her dress, Carter shared a first look with her dad, who looked so joyful to see his beautiful daughter in her wedding gown. Then she and Eric shared a first look and he wrapped her in a hug while grinning ear-to-ear.
As the guests arrived, a breeze blew across the sun-warmed sand.
The couple’s adorable young son, Wyatt, had a little help coming down the aisle, and spent much of the ceremony as close to the action as he could get!
The house right next door (where I shot a wedding this time last year!) had an intimate wedding on the beach an hour or so before Carter and Eric’s wedding. Throughout the night, their guests could be seen dancing to the music from Carter & Eric’s reception. When the DJ played, ‘Twist and Shout’, you could see dancers on both decks twisting down to a near-seated position before jumping up with hands raised in the air.
Carter and Eric, you two couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding day! It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know you both, and I wish you guys all the happiness in the world!
