Two Rivers Country Club Wedding in Williamsburg

Lizzy Tim’s classic Two Rivers Country Club wedding in Williamsburg, VA couldn’t have been more beautiful!
Like many 2020 couples, Lizzy and Tim had a rollercoaster of a time planning their wedding. They planned to move their indoor ballroom reception outside under a tent since folks are generally thought to be safer outside during this crazy season. But then, the week of their wedding, mother nature stepped in and dumped a lot of rain for days. With the ground saturated, and in fact, flooded in some places, the call was made the night before to move the reception back indoors. Add in that virus spikes in the eastern part of the state meant stricter gathering guidelines for Hampton Roads weddings. And then toss in that some of those guidelines were amended days before their wedding. It was truly a rollercoaster, and my hat is off to Lizzy and Tim for so gracefully navigating all of these changes!
Lizzy and Tim had a large wedding party of 20 friends and family, and it was so fun spending the day with their crew. Their friends were so supportive all day. As toasts got emotional during the reception, the wedding party shouted words of encouragement from their seats.
Their ceremony was held outside in the gazebo, and their tiniest flower girl had everyone in stitches when she decided to stop to pick some more flowers to add to her basket. It was so heartwarming watching the emotion wash across Tim’s face as Lizzy made her way down the steps and up the walk toward him. These two have known each other since they were kids and started dating when they were home on a break between semesters in college. Their families have been friends forever and used to joke that the two of them should end up together. “What many of you don’t know,” joked one person, “is that this is actually an arranged marriage!”
After the ceremony, Lizzy and Tim were joined by their wedding party as they dug up the bourbon they had buried at the venue earlier! The southern tradition of burying the bourbon is said to ensure that it won’t rain on your wedding day! (It was forecasting rain all week, and we did have beautiful sunny skies all day!)
Once the bourbon was retrieved, the group shared a toast together before the couple headed off for sunset portraits together.
Lizzy and Tim, it was an absolute pleasure to serve you guys during this special season of your lives. I can’t wait to see how God will continue to bless you through your marriage!
