Virginia Wedding Photographers | Atkinson Farms, Danville

Tara Lynne and Dane’s Atkinson Farms wedding in Danville was something to ‘cheer’ about! I was so happy to get to finally celebrate with this sweet couple, and the beautiful day they had for their day was just the icing on the wedding cake.

Dane and Tara Lynne were both college cheerleaders, and they met at Florida Atlantic University Cheer tryouts back in 2015. His friend was Tara Lynne’s coach at the time, and he told Dane there was a girl there he needed to meet. They became friends and then eventually ended up dating... the rest, as they say, is history!

Their Virginia wedding venue, Atkinson Farms, was the perfect backdrop for their rustic elegant wedding. The lodge features a giant crystal chandelier hanging from the knotty wood beams. A large stone fireplace makes the cocktail hour space feel cozy. And the giant barn doors in between the cocktail space and reception hall are perfect for swinging wide for the couple to make their grand entrance!

Tara Lynne carried her grandma’s handkerchief and wore her antique wedding band as her something old and borrowed. And her getting ready space was so unique—I’ve never had a bride step into her dress on top of an actual bear skin rug before!

Tara Lynne’s mom was on hand to help her step into BOTH dresses (as well as plan the wedding herself!) That’s right, Tara had two wedding gowns. “What do you do when you end up with a whole extra year before your wedding? You keep planning. And sometimes, you might buy a second wedding dress, too!”

Only Tara Lynne, her mom, maid of honor, and I knew about that second dress. So when Tara Lynne and Dane went for a break before the reception, we staged a little first look to capture Dane’s expression. It’s priceless! His confusion quickly turns to laughter and then admiration.

And speaking of admiration, ladies, get yourself a groom who looks at you like Dane looked at Tara Lynne as she walked down that aisle. To say he was overcome with emotion would be an understatement.

I’ve absolutely loved working with Tara Lynne and Dane and following their story over the years (we shot their engagement photos back in fall 2018!) and it was a pleasure meeting all their friends and family. It’s always a great time when you have a large wedding party like theirs! Congratulations to the happy couple!
