Delfosse Vineyards Wedding in Fall

Nicole and Steven chose the memorable date, 10.10.2020 for their Delfossee Vineyards wedding. But after their gorgeous wedding, I’m betting nobody will need the catchy date to remember their day!
In addition to the unique date, the couple chose a venue in Faber, Virginia. Easy enough to remember. . .since they are now Mr. and Mrs. Faber!
Nicole and Steven got engaged while staying in the Outer Banks with his family. They had been dating for four years and Nicole thought the possibility of a ring was imminent. On the last night of our stay, they went out for a nice lunch and walked around the local park in Duck, NC. On the boardwalk, Steven got down on one knee and asked the question Nicole had been longing for! They got back to the house where his family waited and had a celebration with champagne and confetti poppers.
The couple had planned to say their vows atop the mountain at Delfosse Vineyards, even if it was drizzling just a little. But as it turns out, it didn’t just drizzle—it steadily rained. . . allllll day long. So they made last-minute plans to move their ceremony indoors. (Wait ‘til you see their ceremony photos—this venue’s indoor option is still stunning!)
One of my favorite details from the day was the lace inset on Nicole’s wedding dress, which was taken from her mother’s wedding gown. Fabric from her mother’s dress was also used to fashion the face mask that Nicole wore during the reception.
On my weather app, it looked like we’d have a little break in the rain during the time when they’d be sharing their First Look. So we planned for a spot that didn’t look too muddy and grabbed umbrellas. But when the time came, my app had changed its mind about any potential break in the rain that day. So Steven’s very helpful groomsmen helped me clear the farmhouse’s back porch, and they had their First Look there with the mountains in the background.
After we grabbed a few portraits of the two of them, I was capturing some bridal portraits of Nicole. I looked over and saw Steven’s face as he watched her, and he was all smiles. One of his groomsmen clapped him on the back, and Steven nodded for a long moment and said, ‘She’s beautiful.’
The ceiling at the Event Barn was draped with tulle swags and twinkle lights that perfectly framed the ceremony site and made it look magical. Nicole came into the venue on her dad’s arm, and then stopped to have her step-dad join them for the walk down the aisle.
After the ceremony, the wedding party joined the couple for a ride up the mountain to the couple’s planned wedding site for portraits and to dig up the bourbon! Because of the rain, we were losing light pretty quickly, but I love how the whisps of fog encircled the mountain tops and nestled into the crevasses.
Steven, armed with their cake server as a shovel, tried to locate the buried bourbon. . .in the mud. . .in the dark. They were about to give up and try again the next day, when the wedding party realized they had a photo of the couple posing when they’d originally buried it. Nicole, in her white dress, stepped over into the muddy spot weilding the cake-server, stabbed her makeshift shovel into the ground, and immediately made contact with the bourbon. Steven didn’t look sheepish or embarassed—just proud.
We headed back down to their reception for dances, toasts, cake-cutting and all the reception fun. What a perfect wedding day these two had!
Nicole and Steven, thanks so much for choosing me to document your day! It was a privilege, and I wish you both all the best for a lifetime of happiness together!
