Lacey & Jordan's beautiful Dover Hall wedding was everything the two had ever dreamed or prayed about.

Dover Hall, the majestic English Tudor in Manakin-Sabot, was the perfect castle for this sweet couple’s storybook wedding.

Jordan and Lacey met and got engaged in church, so it was no surprise that prayer was a big part of their wedding day, too.

Dover Hall wedding venue is one of my favorite venues in Virginia, and I’m always excited to photograph wedding days here. It’s such a treat to have a beautiful wedding venue so close to my home! Dover Hall is located just outside Richmond, and it has so many wedding portrait locations that I find that I’m always discovering new favorite locations to shoot every time I photograph here!

A bride always wishes that everything goes smoothly on her wedding day, and we always try to build in a little buffer in the photography timeline for unexpected things that crop up.

When the rains started to pour down and the zipper completely busted out of the back of Lacey's dress, she just started praying. She was a real trooper. With some fishing line and the assistance of her seamstress aunt, the bride was soon ready for photos! (And the rain stopped in plenty of time for their outdoor ceremony on the patio!)

The fishing line was used because it is stronger than thread. But Lacey shared that it also held sentimental significance for her. She actually grew up fishing alongside her dad. The two often fished and cleaned fish together, and he told her many times that she could do anything she put her mind to (which included waiting patiently and keeping her cool as she waited on the back of her gown to be repaired.)

A single flower made from her mother's wedding dress lace was given to Lacey by her parents, and it was nestled in her bouquet. Then they sat with Lacey and prayed over her marriage.

Instead of sharing a first look, the couple shared a first prayer, and Jordan prayed for them. They shared communion together during their ceremony and then participated in a beautiful Christian foot washing ceremony!

The couple's adorable dogs also walked down the aisle wearing matching tuxedos and greeted the newlyweds with lots of puppy kisses when reunited after the ceremony. Is there anything cuter than wedding portraits with dogs?

Before party dancing and a sparkler exit, they headed up to Seven Lady Vineyard at Dover Hall for sunset portraits. They also joined me during their reception on the back patio under the twinkling cafe lights for a few nighttime portraits. (Huge hint to other newlywed couples, give your photographer five minutes during the reception to do this--you won't regret it!)

Congratulations, Jordan and Lacey! I loved spending time with you both for your Charleston engagement photos and on your wedding day at Dover Hall! I am so inspired by how you keep your faith in the forefront of your relationship and how you rejoice in sharing in each other’s passions. May your marriage and lives together be as blessed and wonderful as your wedding day was!
