Chelsea and Richard met a few years back on St. Patrick’s Day, and Richard proposed over dinner on Valentine’s Day. But for their King Family Vineyards photo session near Charlottesville, VA—we were celebrating Dog Day!

Both their pups came along for photos, and they were so cute! (Waffles the corgi is a spitfire and totally cracked me up!)

Chelsea and I met a few years back when I was doing some banking for my photography business at the bank where she works. We had hit it off chatting about jewelry and other random things when I would pop in. Chelsea joked that when I left the bank she ‘stalked’ my website. (I mean, I gave her my business card, so I was more than cool with that!) I was so happy when they later contacted me about shooting their wedding!

It was a beautiful day for their session, and I’m always excited for a chance to visit King Family Vineyards! I love the views and chill vibe there. And for anyone looking for a unique outing—check out King Family Vineyards on Sundays when they host the Roseland Farm Polo matches!

It was also about 100 degrees, and for the most part, we were shooting in the blazing sun in the heat of the day. I have no idea how they both stayed looking so cool! Richard was especially a trooper putting on his jacket for much of the session. He definitely gets the ‘gold star’ for the day! So many layers for such a hot day and he never complained!

Oh, and did I mention I got stung by a bumblebee? Yup. Right on my ‘camera hand.’ Apparently, the bees had taken up residency in a wine barrel. The same barrel where I thought would be cute to style Chelsea’s ring for photos while they changed outfits. The bees preferred that I shoot the ring somewhere else, and I didn’t argue with them.

I was enjoying chatting with Chelsea and Richard and didn’t even think about the sting until our session was over. These two are such a fun couple, and I can’t wait for their Mill at Fine Creek wedding next summer!
