Richmond Family Photographer | VMFA Family Portraits
VMFA is a treasure, you guys. When you’re trying to coordinate a photo session for a family of ten and you actually find a day available on your shooting schedule that works for all ten of them, well, that’s nearly a miracle. But then when it rains. . . what do you do? Well, we headed to the VMFA and brought along 10 white umbrellas!
Their covered front porch area allows you to take a few outside portraits without getting drenched. And as long as you follow their rules, you’re allowed to take photos in some areas inside the museum as well!
Family Portrait Outfit Ideas
The Robinsons are a photogenic couple with 8 photogenic kids! And if you need inspiration on what to wear for your next family session—keep scrolling because these guys nailed it! The girls all wore navy or emerald cocktail dresses, and the guys all wore navy suits.
When you’re planning your family session, coordinating outfits like these photograph beautifully.
Everyone doesn’t have to match—they just need to coordinate, which the navy and emerald do!
I also think dressing up a bit more than you usually would is a great idea for family portraits. A family portrait session isn’t something you do every day—it’s special! So your pictures will reflect that if you’re wearing that something special!
I loved photographing this family! We had so much fun, I had another session with them for their son Matthew’s Richmond senior portrait session!
Here are a few of my favorite VMFA Family Portraits from their Richmond family portrait session!
