Richmond Greek Cathedral Wedding
Lauren & Yianni’s Saint Helen & Constantine Greek Orthodox Cathedral wedding and Delta Hotels Downtown Richmond reception couldn’t have been more beautiful. The leaves in Richmond were at their peak that weekend, and their wedding day was warm and sunny. Seriously, you couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather!
The two got ready at the Delta Hotel downtown, and from the bridal suite, you could see out over the James River and Tredegar Ironworks below.
The couple both had sentimental pieces that were lent to them for the day. Lauren had an antique sapphire and pearl family ring that was her ‘old, borrowed, and blue.’ Yianni wore an heirloom crucifix and his grandfather’s diamond ring.
While the bridesmaids were finishing hair, makeup, and getting into dresses, the groomsmen had arrived at the church in time to shoot a few hoops in their tuxedos!
During the ceremony, Yianni walked purposefully to the front of the church wearing his mask. During this season, that’s not uncommon, and clever Yianni used it to his advantage to hide a secret. As he walked, he removed the mask and several people gasped, then chuckled and murmured a bit as they noticed that his beard was gone and he was clean-shaven. He grinned, enjoying the reaction.
Lauren walked down the aisle on her father’s arm, and she was all smiles.
After the ceremony and portraits, the couple joined the wedding party on the trolley to take them to the reception back at the Delta Marriott Hotel. As we headed through Carytown, the guys all rode on the back deck and waved as folks honked their horns and yelled congratulations.
At the reception, the couple entered wearing sunglasses, arms held high. They headed over to the dance floor for their first dance followed by the parent dances.
After dinner, the couple was surprised by a special video. And if they were expecting baby pictures of the two of them set to music, they were way off base. Family and friends who couldn’t join to celebrate with the couple in person send virtual well-wishes. And as they began to see all their loved ones, the two became very emotional. It was such a touching way to include those who couldn’t travel during the pandemic!
The toasts brought lots of tears, and the cake-cutting brought lots of laughs as Yianni and Lauren both ended up with quite a bit of it on their faces!
Party dancing included several traditional Greek dances, and the dance floor stayed busy!
Lauren and Yianni, it was such an honor to document your wedding day, and I enjoyed working with both of you! May God continue to bless you both and your marriage.
Here are a few of my favorite images from their Richmond Greek Orthodox Cathedral wedding!
