Intimate Virginia House Elopement in Richmond

Jennie and Matt had a beautiful spring day for their Virginia House Elopement

Almost eight years ago, both Matt and Jennie worked for the same company. Matt had noticed Jennie while reading a book outside during her lunch breaks. Before he officially asked her on a date, he had baked her cookies. They went to a Thai restaurant in Richmond on their first date and then enjoyed a show.

They both love taking long walks around different parks. They were at Mid-lothian Mines Park one day, and Matt proposed by the water. Jennie immediately said yes, and they celebrated with ice cream!

The Virginia House is an iconic historic wedding venue in Richmond. (And one of my absolute favorites.) This beautiful location was an English manor house relocated to Richmond's Windsor Farms in 1925 and is now respectively owned and operated by the Virginia Historical Society. The property sits on almost eight acres overlooking the James River. Virginia House's gardens and grounds boast a dazzling display of character and splendor throughout the year.

The gardens behind Virginia House are so beautiful that Matt and Jennie chose it as the location for their wedding. They had thirteen of their family members and friends there to witness them taking their vows. Their outdoor ceremony was the perfect private setting for their elopement as they shared their vows.

I loved watching Jennie & Matt together. These two complement each other so well, and I love how caring and supportive they were of the other’s needs during the day. As they exited their ceremony, Matt whispered to Jennie to see if she wanted his jacket because he could tell she was cold. (And the look of love in his eyes as she posed for bridal portraits is how everyone wants to be seen!)

There are many opportunities for fantastic wedding portraits around this English manor home. There's beautiful architecture, brick-lined gardens, and lush greenery around every corner you turn. While visiting, you often feel like you're in a secret garden, and it was so fun spending time with these two as we took portraits.

After their outdoor ceremony, everyone enjoyed sushi and champagne toasts. Their wedding day was gorgeous, and they were honored to have loved ones by their side.

Jennie & Matt, it was an absolute pleasure and honor capturing your wedding day photography! May you always look back and remember all the love on this day!

Enjoy some of my favorites from Jennie & Matt’s Virginia House Elopement in the spring!
