Virginia House Wedding in Richmond | Amira + Kyle

Fall Virginia House Wedding in Richmond, VA

Amira and Kyle had the most perfect sunny day for their Virginia House wedding in the fall!

I’m so glad that one of my favorite second photographers, Aisha, recommended me to photograph her sister Alma’s wedding. I’m always honored to be chosen to shoot a wedding day. But I know how hard it is for a photographer to put the camera down and trust someone else to capture the day, so I was touched Aisha had recommended me. Since Aisha was the matron of honor, I wanted to make sure she just got to be there for her sister that day and not even give the photography a second thought.

Kyle and Amira's love story began in a local bar in Richmond, a city with a special place in their hearts. He orchestrated a ‘picnic’ with their friends at Maymont Park.

Little did Amira know, this would soon be a significant location of their story. Under the gazebo near the Italian gardens, Kyle's plan unfolded. He went to put his camera bag down and pretended to change the lens on his camera; instead, he turned around, got down on one knee, and proposed.

Choosing The Virginia House as their wedding venue was a no-brainer for them as they loved the historic European-style of the venue. The early hints of fall foliage added a touch of romance to their special day. The Virginia House's breathtaking English architecture and private gardens provide a picturesque setting for their wedding portraits.

Excitement filled the air as I arrived. I started the day by capturing the thoughtful details that made up their wedding day, including their invitation suite and the florals that Amira designed herself.

The moments of anticipation during the getting ready portion of the day are always so sweet. Amira and her sister and mother shared a beautiful moment as Amira stepped into her wedding gown and put her veil on. Meanwhile, Kyle and his groomsmen prepared for the day ahead in the venue's stunning library.

The venue's garden architecture, featuring stately columns and arches, was the perfect backdrop for the heartfelt ceremony. As the sun bathed the venue in a warm glow, Kyle and Amira stood before each other, surrounded by the beauty of nature and their closest family and friends.

They exchanged personal vows, each word carrying the weight of their love and commitment to one another. The emotional vows the couple shared with one another resonated with all the guests on a deep level. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen more people reaching for the tissues during a wedding ceremony!

Amira's bridesmaids each wore dresses that varied in style and color, but all shared the same style material. I absolutely love the visual aesthetic and diversity that mismatched dresses bring to photos. Her bridesmaids perfectly complemented her own stunning bridal look. (Who else loves the old Hollywood waves style of Amira’s wedding day hair?)

Their tented reception was simple and elegant, with clean white decor setting the stage for their celebration. Baby's breath flowers were at the center of the tables, candles casting a warm glow, and cafe lights overhead creating a welcoming ambiance. By the time darkness fell, and their first dance began, the moment looked like a scene from a movie.

After a night filled with memories and party dancing, these newlyweds bid farewell to their guests with a fun bubble exit. It was the perfect ending to a day that truly reflected their love for one another.

Kyle & Amira, it was an honor to be your wedding photographer. I’ll never forget how very heartfelt your vows to each other were. May your marriage grow stronger in that love with each passing day. Here's to a lifetime of joy and happiness!
