McKenna and John's River Uplands Farm Wedding was on a beautiful summer day nestled in the mountains in Millboro, VA near Hot Springs.

In 2014, John and McKenna met in a marketing class while in high school. They both were dating other people at this time. A year later, John went to Virginia Military Institute but returned to his high school to recruit. This was when they started talking regularly.

Other than during John's deployment, they have been inseparable since they went on their first official date on New Year's Eve 2015. Four years later, at the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia, John popped the question to McKenna on New Year's Eve!

River Uplands Farm is a gorgeous wedding venue in Millboro, VA—not too far from The Omni Homestead in Hot Springs were they were engaged! This Virginia wedding venue has spectacular views of the mountains surrounding the property.

A charming Victorian home on the property is the perfect space to use while getting ready for your big day. There are many picturesque options for wedding portraits with gorgeous country views at this location. The reception space is a lovely big barn providing plenty of room for the party. McKenna and John chose River Uplands Farm as their wedding venue due to its stunning setting, close proximity to the area, and her father's relationship with the owner.

John and McKenna shared a first look with each other in the shade under a weeping willow tree, and it was so sweet. As McKenna approached John, his eyes were closed with anticipation of seeing his bride. He turned around with delight, and his smile grew even more. He gave her a soft twirl so he could see her adorned in her gorgeous dress and veil. It was such a sweet moment between the two of them! You could tell once they saw each other, that joy filled their hearts with anticipation of the rest of their big day. I always love the intimate moments I get to capture during a first look.

The rustic reception venue fit perfectly with the country setting. After the formal dances and meaningful toasts, the line dancing and fun began. There was a fantastic sunset that peaked out of the clouds. During their sparkler exit, their wedding party and immediate family lined up to celebrate the end of their magical day.

McKenna & John, I loved getting to know the two of you during your engagement session, planning, and wedding day! It was so special to see how the whole mood of the day shifted once the two of you were together. You make such a great team!
