Richmond Engagement Photos at VMFA, The Fan and Libby Hill Park
Summer Richmond Engagement Session | Meghan + Michael
Richmond VA Engagement Photography
Meghan & Michael's Richmond engagement photo session hit several great Richmond engagement photo locations--VMFA, The Fan, and Libby Hill Park in Church Hill!
All three of these locations make for amazing spots for an engagement session in Richmond. And they were all hand-chosen because they had sentimental meaning to the couple. That purple house you see in the shots with the purple crepe myrtles? That was Meghan’s old house, and those porch steps were the very spot where Michael told Meghan how he felt about her and asked her to be his girlfriend!
There were gorgeous floral blooms around The Fan, which made this session even dreamier. If you’re looking for engagement photos with fantastic architecture, incredible views, and a glowy sunset, then consider VMFA, The Fan, and Libby Hill Park!
Michael and Meghan's love story goes back to their freshman year of high school. They were attending different schools, but their classes had lunch together one day. Michael caught Meghan's eye and was very interested to find out who he was.
They crossed paths a few times during high school, but Meghan let her crush go. Fast forward to their five-year high school reunion homecoming game. Meghan's sister was homecoming princess, so she attended the game to support her sister.
A combination of alumni from Meghan and Michael's schools gathered together at the game. Upon crossing paths at the game, he invited her to hang out with him and some friends. Their story was a slow start, but they always brought joy into each other's lives.
Their proposal story is one for the books. Michael had a whole day planned for this special moment. Meghan suspected that a proposal was coming, but at the same time, she wasn't sure. Michael mentioned something about Meghan not wearing her new dress, which was Meghan's first indication of the proposal.
While grabbing breakfast, Meghan spilled kale juice on her white pants, which made her think there wouldn't be a proposal since her pants were dirty. However, the continuation of love songs on the playlist indicated the proposal during their drive.
Before arriving at Lake Anna, where his parents have a house, they stopped for dinner. Michael was anxious to leave once they finished dinner because he wanted to catch the sunset. While driving to the lakehouse, Michael decided to detour through the fields.
They arrive upon an area overlooking the water, with two Adirondack chairs looking towards the sunset with a bottle of rose. Michael told Meghan early on in their relationship that he wanted someone he could relax in an Adirondack chair with and enjoy each other's company.
Out in the water, there was only one boat, (which clearly and very visibly had his parents on board, but he tried to deny it). As Michael got down on one knee, the song "Big Big Plans" began playing from the boat.
It was great meeting these two for their engagement session! They chose some iconic spots for a Richmond engagement session, and let me tell you, it was dreamy. I am so excited to photograph their big day!
