Swannanoa Palace Engagement on Afton Mountain
Amanda and Matthew are planning a spring Dominion Club wedding in Richmond. And they knew that they wanted engagement photos that would include a backdrop of the mountains! They decided on Swannanoa Palace engagement photos because the mansion is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia.
Amanda and Matthew met on campus at Virginia Tech at a pre-college engineering program the summer before their freshman year. The two of them became friends, and they started dating during their sophomore year! The Hokie couple graduated together in 2018, and got engaged in February this year. And Matthew knew how to make his proposal one that would definitely be memorable!
Matthew and Amanda were taking a romantic walk in downtown Richmond. The two of them began crossing the Potterfield Memorial Bridge, when Matthew had them stop in the middle of it. He proposed to Amanda down on one knee, and he arranged for his brother to fly a drone overhead that captured the whole thing! They now have an epic video of the very moment Matthew asked Amanda to marry him. (So romantic!)
We met at Swannanoa and the day couldn’t have been nicer! After a string of really hot days, we had a relatively mild day with lots of blue sky for their engagement photos. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always love visiting Swannanoa, and it’s so fun to share the hidden treasure with others.
After we explored the beautiful grounds together. We headed back down the mountain to take more photos in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Afton Mountain was the perfect spot to take in the sunset and enjoy the beautiful views!
