Kate and Colton are having a destination wedding in Virginia this summer. I was excited when Kate reached out to me to shoot their wedding after I photographed their VT friends’ Charlottesville wedding! Colton is in the military and the couple is living in Florida while they plan their Richmond wedding. We coordinated holiday schedules while the couple would both be in Virginia and decided to meet up for their Richmond engagement session at Main Street Station.

How He Asked

Kate and Colton started their relationship as classmates at Virginia Tech when they hit it off over a lunch meeting to exchange notes!

When it came time to propose, Colton tricked Kate into thinking they were going to Lane to workout. But instead, he led her out to the 50-yard line at Lane Stadium where their beloved Hokies play football. Then he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him!

Richmond Engagement Photos

We couldn’t have had a better day for their engagement session! It was in the 60s and sunny in late December. I was wearing short sleeves with no jacket and it was heavenly to be outside enjoying such a nice day!

The couple’s sweetheart of a pup, Rosie, came along, and Kate’s mom joined us to help watch over Rosie. (Thank you!!) I had the best time hearing more about their wedding plans and getting to know the couple better as we wandered around Shockoe Bottom together!

I can’t wait to see them again at their wedding this summer!
