Leesburg Wedding at Birky House in the Rain

Krissy and Alan's Birkby House wedding in Leesburg shows just how perfect a rain backup plan can look!

The Birkby House is a historic wedding venue located in beautiful Leesburg, Virginia.

The weather forecast turned soggy, and unfortunately, that meant moving the ceremony under the tent. With the floral arch moved to the tent, the table centerpieces repurposed to line the aisle, and the tent walls opened to reveal the greenery outdoors, the tent felt open and like the outdoors was still a prominent feature of the backdrop for the ceremony.

Krissy looked absolutely breathtaking, and most of her attire shared a meaningful significance. Both of her wedding dresses came from a bridal shop owned by her grandparents. For the ceremony, she wore a beaded lace wedding gown with cold-shoulder sleeves designed by Casablanca Bridal, along with a headpiece and veil that were her mother's! Adding an extra touch, Krissy designed the earrings that she wore for the ceremony, and they looked amazing!

She completely changed her look for the reception by wearing a custom short, satin dress. She paired it with a chunky heel that was perfect for dancing!

It started to rain just as Alan and Krissy were preparing for their first look. Fortunately, this remarkable venue has a lovely porch right off the bridal suite, where we captured the couple's first look, couples portraits, and wedding party portraits. The lighting at this spot was phenomenal!

After the ceremony, the rain subsided, and we were able to take portraits outside. We took family formal photos and a few just married portraits as the wedding planning vendor team quickly turned the tent from a ceremony setup to a magical reception setup in record time.

Krissy and Alan had a single-tiered cake with flowers for their wedding cake paired with her grandparent's wedding cake server. The reception was such a fun time for the couple who had been waiting for this chance to celebrate with their friends and family. It was such a fun celebration for Alan and Krissy! (And their guests had some serious dance moves—they were seriously having such a blast!)
