A Classic Estate at River Run Wedding in Fall was everything Shannon and Evan had imagined! This Maidens, Virginia wedding venue on the banks of the James River was the perfect setting.
It was fate that brought these two together at a random Saturday brunch. They were both working one summer in DC for an internship, and their paths might not have crossed if this brunch hadn't taken place.
After realizing they had something special and the stars aligned for them to become co-workers, a weekend away in the mountains with their much-beloved dog, Thor, led to them being an engaged couple! Evan surprised Shannon by proposing right when they arrived, and both were giddy with joy.

The Estate at River Run's beautiful and unique architecture is impressive and one of the many perks of this Richmond wedding venue. (Alongside its stunning views overlooking the James River!)
Elegant black bentwood chairs provided seating for their guests. The florals added the wow factor to the wedding, with the crescent shape arch and flowers along the aisle.
Wedding portraits of the newlyweds at the Estate at River Run are guaranteed to be beautiful, whether you choose to use indoor spaces or photograph them outside with the building in the background. Because their ceremony happened later in the day the weekend right after Daylight Savings Time kicked in, we used several spots inside. too, with grand archways and spiral staircases.
Shannon and Evan wanted their wedding day to be carefree and be able to have fun with all of their guests. A live band certainly kept the entertainment going, and everyone had a fun evening celebrating these two!
Toward the end of the evening, the guests were treated to a silent disco! Guests could choose from three different ‘stations’ of music being played over the headphones, which were denoted by the color your headphones glowed, red, green or blue. The reception space was silent except for the occasional tunes from the dancers who were sometimes singing different songs at once. In addition to the headphones, the dancers all waved glow sticks. It was such a blast and a great way to extend the party at wedding venues with early sound ordinance regulations.
Having such a perfect ending to their wedding day was everything they could have dreamed of. These two shared a private last dance in the beautiful Wedgewood Ballroom. Moments like these are some of my favorites, seeing the newlyweds enjoy a moment to themselves.
I loved celebrating these two with all of their friends and family. Congratulations, Shannon and Evan! You two are the best, and it was such a perfect day filled with so much beauty, love and pure joy.
