Richmond Wedding at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart

Lauren & John’s Cathedral of the Sacred Heart wedding and Boathouse at Sunday Park wedding reception were the perfect combination for a stunning wedding day!

Because of the craziness of 2020, their May wedding was postponed to Halloween, but there was nothing scary about this day! They had a perfect fall day in Richmond with warm temperatures. and gorgeous fall foliage as a backdrop at their waterside reception venue. I’m a huge fan of photographing on the water and architecture so I was in wedding photographer heaven all day.

Lauren and John met when a mutual friend invited Lauren over for dinner knowing that John would be there. Lauren wasn't aware she was being set up and was surprised (obviously, very pleasantly surprised!) I love watching these two together because there’s just so much JOY between them!

We started the day at the Richmond Omni Hotel, and I loved how relaxed everyone was in the bridal suite! Hair and makeup were out of the way early and the bride and her bridesmaids were laughing, enjoying music and beverages. Lauren’s borrowed and blue came in the form of several pieces of Tiffany jewelry leant to her from a family member.

Lauren was beaming as she walked down the aisle on her dad’s arm. Their ceremony was gorgeous! The Italian Renaissance Revival style Richmond Cathedral is such a stunning setting.

After family formals, we grabbed some photos of the wedding party outside the cathedral on the steps before heading to The Boathouse for more portraits. Then we headed indoors a bit for their reception. The couple made time to visit with guests and each table before toasts and cake-cutting. And we had the prettiest sunset and were able to sneak the couple out for a few quick sunset portraits!
