Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront & Cavalier Beach Club Wedding
H & L got engaged in 2018 and planned their Marriott Virginia Beach Wedding for 2020. But when Covid hit, they had an early spring 2020 elopement, rescheduled a few times, and finally felt like the time was right for their large celebration with family and friends. My incredibly talented photographer friend, Justin Hankins, reached out to see if I would like to photograph their wedding with him. And I’m so glad I did—what a fun wedding!
The bride’s something borrowed was the ring she wore on her right hand--her grandmother's diamond engagement ring. After their proposal, they showed her mother her ring, her mom couldn't believe how similar the style of the ring was to the antique family gem.
The wedding ceremony was held at Galilee Church in Virginia Beach. The mother of the bride shared that the moment she was most looking forward to for the day (aside from all of it!) was seeing her daughter walk down that church aisle on her dad's arm. The bride looked absolutely stunning in her Monique Lhuillier gown!
The reception featured a sea of blue hydrangeas and white florals, with a huge installation of flowers hung over the entire expanse of the dance floor. Several long bar height table tops and two round bars at either end of the ballroom featured beautiful blue and white wallpaper insets. The wallpaper was the perfect customization for the night's theme and matched the blue and white toile table cloths. The cake table and several other table tops showed off a heavy lace table cloth that added dimension and texture to the space.
The groom’s cake, a replica of W&L, was the perfect nod to their alma mater since the couple had met at a baseball party while they were attending Washington & Lee University.
To the couple, thanks for letting me be a part of your beautiful day! You two absolutely radiate love and joy. To Justin, thanks for inviting me to be a part of the team that captured their day. What an awesome vendor team we were fortunate to work alongside that day!
Here are a few of my favorite images that I captured on their day. (Including way too many of their blue and white reception. What can I say—I love all the blue and white!)
