Ravens Roost Engagement Session | Charlottesville Wedding Photographers

High school sweethearts Rhiannon & Louis loved the idea of a Glenthorne Farm & Ravens Roost engagement photo session. So we headed to the mountains where we first met up at Glenthorne Farm in Nellysford that has fantastic mountain views and a waterfall. The farm is just down the road from Wintergreen and Bold Rock Cidery and all the Nelson 151 breweries.

Louis and Rhiannon met during their junior year of high school on the first day of school. Rhiannon met Louis, and whispered to her friend, “that guy’s kind of cute.” The two became closer friends as the years went by, started dating freshman year of college, and the rest is history!

Louis knew that Rhiannon would want her parents and two best friends to be at the proposal, so when Rhiannon got a surprise BFF visit, she knew what was about to happen. Her friends helped Rhiannon get ready and drove her to Carvin’s Cove near Roanoke where Rhiannon and Louis’ parents and his sister were waiting.

Louis wrote sweet letters about everyone involved, which Rhiannon read aloud to them. He was waiting at the end of the dock at sunset for Rhiannon with candles and rose petals (and a ring!) Carvin’s Cove was a special place for the couple and the lake and mountains made the perfect backdrop for their proposal.

I had a great time exploring the farm with the couple, and Rhiannon was a trooper climbing down the side of the waterfall in her long dress and heels! We timed our arrival at Ravens Roost Overlook perfectly just as the sun was setting. The sky was glowing and the Blue Ridge Mountains looked beautiful!

I can’t wait for their wedding this fall at the Mount Ida Farm wedding venue!
