Richmond Wedding Venues | Historical Wedding Venues in Richmond, VA
We’re lucky that there’s no shortage of really great Richmond wedding venues! I’m a fan of architecture, and love venues that have lots of history and character. Here are just a few of my favorite historical wedding venues in Richmond, VA!
Historical Richmond Wedding Venues
The Jefferson Hotel
If you’re in the market for a wedding venue that is so luxurious that they had live alligators in the water fountain out front until 1948, look no further. While these gators may have been replaced with bronze sculptures, the luxury they embodied is echoed throughout this stunning piece of architecture to this day. Built in the late 1800s, The Jefferson Hotel is a ‘Spanish Baroque’ styled luxury hotel located on downtown West Franklin Street. A wedding here is sure to make all in attendance feel like royalty.
Agecroft Hall & Gardens
Located in the heart of Richmond, Virginia in Windsor Farms, Agecroft Hall is a beautiful piece of Tudor Architecture, designed and built along the James River in sixteenth century.
As you arrive you are greeted by the meticulous gardens, and the warm and inviting craftsmanship of the Tudor exterior. A wedding at Agecroft feels elegant yet humble, strong yet graceful. It is for these reasons and so many more that Agecroft Hall & Gargens is truly a fairytale setting for any couple to start their journey together.
Branch Museum of Architecture
The Branch Museum of Architecture & Design is a 1910’s ‘Tudor Revival’ styled landmark on Monument Avenue. The walls are lined with old, long, art-deco style glass windows that allow a lot of beautiful sunlight into the rustic, old wood interior. This lighting is a huge advantage if you want to nail the fairy tale aesthetics on your big day!
Bolling Haxall House
The Bolling Haxall House is a magnificent eighteenth century Italianate Villa located in downtown Richmond, VA. The interior of the villa is nothing short of regal, every nook and cranny of the Bolling Haxall House has been designed and decorated to the same high standard of beauty.
A wedding at the Bolling Haxall House feels like a royal experience. If you’re a couple who’s looking for the ballroom wedding of your dreams, the Bolling Haxall House is an easy choice for your regal wedding.
John Marshall Ballrooms
The Historic John Marshall Ballrooms are newly renovated 1920’s ‘Art Deco’ style Richmond wedding venue on 5th Street, downtown. The ballrooms are located in the former John Marshall Hotel. The hotel opened the day before the Wall Street Crash of 1929, when the art deco style of the time was at its peak. The two glamorous ballrooms are large enough to accommodate everyone you were hoping to invite, and guests will enjoy the beautiful artistic touches of the 1920s decor. A wedding in these ballrooms is sure to be a day to remember.
Main Street Station
This 1901‘Victorian’ style train station is located in Shockoe Bottom on East Main Street. The renovated interior of the Headhouse at Main Street Station is just as grand and ornate as its exterior, with large open rooms lined with columns and tall ceilings. The newly constructed shed offers views of the entire city through its walls of glass. The shed offers tall ceilings and is as long as two football field.
This is a perfect venue if you are looking for large scale grandiose and a relaxed place to invite family and friends.
Virginia House
The Virginia House is the perfect venue for couples wanting a bit of a European feel. The architecture and gardens at Virginia House will make guests think they’ve stepped back in time to the English countryside! Just like everything built at the height of the roaring 20’s, there is no detail too small to be decorated. Everything about Virginia House and its landscaping is thought out and beautiful. If you want an artistic, natural, and beautiful setting for your special day then look no further.
